Jefferson’s Gulf Service Station on Chocolate Bayou Road

Clerch Edgar Jefferson was born on April 6, 1903 in Jefferson, Texas, making him 53 at the time of the photo. In 1928, he graduated from Bishop College with a Bachelor or Science degree.

He eventually moved to Houston and opened Jefferson’s Gulf Service Station, originally located at 9000 Chocolate Bayou Road.

In addition to being a successful business man, he was a faithful servant of his community and local church. He was a mason, volunteer, and longtime member of Trinity East Methodist Church.

Mr. Jefferson was married to his wife, Ruth Sneed, for 55 years and passed away on August 16, 1984 at the age 81.
